Zakat on all wages, rewards, fees or proceeds from work, regular or occasional.
Choose the no-deduction method (gross income × 2.5%) or the method with had kifayah and EPF deductions. Zakat is due if the balance reaches the current nisab of RM 38,748.00 (July – December 2026).
With deductions: annual income − had kifayah for yourself and dependants − EPF contribution of 11% of gross salary (no EPF deduction from age 55). A 2.5% rate applies when the balance reaches the nisab.
Income zakat may be paid monthly: the monthly estimate is the annual zakat ÷ 12.
